Chris Eubank Jr is set to return to the ring for the first time since a win over Liam Smith in September of last year.
The Brit first lost to Smith by stoppage but reversed the result in the rematch to rejuvenate his career. He has now signed a new deal with BOXXER and Sky Sports, setting out an ambitious hit-list.
Despite being in talks to face Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez recently, the Mexican ultimately opted for undefeated number one contender Edgar Berlanga. Eubank has since signed to fight Poland’s Kamil Szeremeta on the undercard of Artur Beterbiev-Dmitry Bivol on October 12.
Speaking to Boxing King Media, Eubank confirmed that his return was to shake off any ring rust before targetting big names and titles – that includes in the middleweight division.
“This is a solid opponent, Kamil, to get back into the ring after a year off. Get the ring rust off before and then set up for these mega fights over the next twelve months.
There’s a lot of names. A lot of names. My hit-list, I’ve said it. We want the Conor Benn fight, we want the Canelo fight, we want the [Billy Joe] Saunders fight. We want the [Erislandy] Lara fight. We want to fight for that middleweight world title. I think he’s fighting [Danny] Garcia next, so we want the winner of that.”
Erislandy Lara defends his WBA title, held since 2021, against Danny Garcia on the undercard of Canelo-Berlanga on September 14. Two-weight world champion Garcia returns from a two-year lay off for the bout and it will be his first at middleweight after only one contest at super-welter.
