Chris Eubank Sr has had his say on if a Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn rematch should happen next.

Eubank Jr claimed bragging rights over Benn with a unanimous decision victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Saturday, continuing a rivalry that was first started by their fathers Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn over 30 years ago.

Eubank Sr and Benn had two epic clashes in the 1990s, and attention has now turned to whether there will be a second meeting between Eubank Jr and Conor later this year.

It has been reported that September is penciled in for a potential rematch date, but some boxing personnel believe that the two men should go their separate ways and not fight again.

Eubank Sr was initially very outspoken about not even wanting the first clash to take place, and he has revealed on his Call Chris Eubank YouTube Channel that he would rather see his son retire than have a rematch with Benn.

“I must remember what happened. I saw my son in a touch or go situation. Life or death. He doesn’t respect it. Because he’s a warrior and a warrior goes out on his shield, which he proved. He’s not going to listen to the rules. If he can actually evade the rules and somehow sidestep the rules, he will because he’s a warrior.

“It will be an extraordinary blessing for him if he is wise enough to make the decision to walk off in the sunset. Nothing is cooler than that. That you can’t buy, and when I say that I mean there are billions that will pay everything to have what you now have. It cannot be bought. It has to be earned.

“If he were to retire right now, he would have a richness that money can’t buy. He would have the position of prince for life. You won the hearts of the people Junior, you won my heart.”

If he does continue boxing, one option for Eubank Jr rather than a rematch with Benn could be a future fight with Canelo Alvarez, and the unified super-middleweight champion has given his taken on Saturday’s all-British fight.
