Chris Eubank Sr has suggested he may lace up his gloves again for one night only.

Eubank fought during a golden era of British boxing from 1985 to 1998. He ruled as world champion for more than five years and was undefeated across his first decade in the sport.

His legendary wins over Nigel Benn and Michael Watson saw the sport in the UK ride a wave of popularity and of course, decades on, led to one of the biggest fights in recent times when his son Junior renewed family rivalries with Conor Benn.

That fight back in April saw Team Eubank come out on top once more, and the next step is most likely a contracted rematch.

Eubank Sr doesn’t want to see it, and has in fact put pressure on his son via his YouTube channel not to take the rematch, or else he too will return to the ring.

“What suits Junior, in my view? He doesn’t need to do anything else. He’ll never better than performance. There’s two of us now, there’s nothing we can’t do.

“If you don’t get back into the ring Jr, then neither will I. But if you get back in the ring, I will get back in the ring in some exhibition match. I’m going to pressure you. You want to fight again? OK, then I will fight too. Cause I’m with you.”

Senior, 58, lost his last three fights – two against Carl Thompson and one against Joe Calzaghe and retired in 1998. Though fans would like to see him stay in retirement with a legacy untarnished, the nature of the business means he would not be short of offers for exhibition contests.

Eubank Jr is yet to announce his next move officially, but his words since the win favour the rematch over anything else, and he certainly doesn’t look to be considering retirement, despite his father’s recommendation to do so.
