Conor Benn is plotting his future having lost last time out in April.

28-year-old Benn stepped up two weight classes to take on generational rival Chris Eubank Jr. Despite an impressive start and solid showing throughout, the size difference began to show and he lost on the cards after 12 rounds, though did see his stock rise in defeat.

Both men seem all in for the rematch, but it is no secret that Benn then wants to drop back down to welterweight to pursue world titles. The belt he wants most is the WBC, having seen his father proudly win it.

In a recent post on X, ‘The Destroyer’ reiterated his desire.

“I want that WBC World Title.”

The famous green and gold belt is currently in possession of Mario Barrios, who defends against Manny Pacquiao on Saturday, July 19 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao is now 46 years old and, though he has been talking about a comeback for years, including wanting to compete at the Paris Olympics in 2024, he has not fought since a points loss to Yordenis Ugas a full four years ago this month. In all, he has had 72 fights and won 62 of them.

The Filipino fighting sensation already holds the record for being the oldest ever welterweight champion, a record he set back in 2019, so a victory against Barrios would smash that.

Barrios, however, is 30 and has won 29 of his 32 fights to date. Many believe he will have too much for ‘PacMan,’ who has controversially been given this shot over active contenders.

However, if the eight-weight champ does come out on top, it could pave the way for Benn – currently ranked number three – to be next. Pacquiao could of course retire instead having won the title, but there would be an incredible amount of money left on the table.
