Conor Benn has his hands full with his rematch against Chris Eubank Jr in November.
Benn impressed many people in the first fight back in April. It was a hugely emotional affair given the inter-generational rivalry between the two families that started with both men’s fathers fighting each other in the 90s.
Benn came up two weights, and it was eventually Eubank’s natural size advantages that allowed him to get a foothold in the fight and run out a unanimous points winner, but that’s not to say it wasn’t an all-action and engaging battle with plenty of shots thrown throughout by both fighters.
They will no do it all again at Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium under the same weight conditions, but already both men have been talking about potential future fights.
Eubank has suggested he would love to fight undisputed super-middleweight ruler Terrence Crawford, while Germany’s Abass Baraou has said to Sky Sports he would be keen to share the ring with Benn.
“Conor Benn is around 154lbs. He’s a big name in the UK, I’d love to fight in the UK. The fans are amazing. Coming in the UK, having a big fight like that, why not? I’m ready for it. Here in the UK, having a show like that is one of the dreams. He’s a great fighter, he’s explosive. Fights with a lot of emotions. I know obviously, my skill and I see myself dominating him and teaching him a little bit of something.”
Baraou is the WBA super-welterweight world champion, and although Benn usually fights at welterweight, he hasn’t made the 147lbs limit since 2022 so this match-up could suit him well.
Baraou is 17 and 1 with wins over the likes of Sam Eggington and, last time out to win the interim title, Yoenis Tellez. He was upgraded to full champion when Terence Crawford gave up the belt by facing Canelo Alvarez.
