Conor Benn has been reflecting on his epic fight with Chris Eubank Jr.
Back in April, these two generational rivals finally got into the ring together after more than two years of build-up following their ill-fated first fight, which was canned after Benn tested positive for a banned substance. He was cleared to fight on home soil late last year and immediately looked to reschedule the contest.
The 28-year-old moved up two divisions from his natural weight class to make it happen, whilst Eubank faced a 10lbs rehydration clause on the morning of the fight to ensure he did not outweigh Benn considerably. Still, many felt Benn would be too small to take the firepower of the bigger man.
From the moment the first bell went at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it was an all-out 12-round war in which both men had success. Eubank Jr’s weight advantage showed in the later rounds as he imposed himself and took away a unanimous points decision.
Speaking to ATS Fight, Benn was asked about the power of Eubank and whether or not he was hurt during the thriller.
“He hit me maybe in, I think it was round nine or 10, he hit me with a shot, he caught me with a good shot, it was a good shot, one head shot.”
Benn then said he hurt Eubank more than once throughout the fight.
“Three, four times I could see where he stumbled in and done what he had to do. He used his weight wisely. I made mistakes in there letting him push me back to the ropes.”
Benn has sais he is desperate to get a second fight with Eubank, otherwise he will target a welterweight world title shot against the likes of Mario’s Barrios.
