Chris Eubank Jr. has come in overweight for his fight against Conor Benn this weekend at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The bout – which was cancelled back in 2022 due to Benn failing a doping test – is set for the middleweight limit of 160lbs, a weight which Eubank has competed at throughout his career, though he has also fought some of his biggest bouts at 168.

Benn is coming up from his natural home at 147 having more recently had two bouts at 154. At the weigh-in today, he tipped the scales at 156.4lbs, meaning he will likely be around 20lbs lighter than Eubank on fight night.

Eubank, who has a 10lbs rehydration clause to deal with tomorrow morning, made a first effort of 162lbs before taking time and returning to the scales at 160.05lbs.

Benn reacted quickly to the news.

“Show me the motherf***ing money.”

The money in question is, per The Ring Magazine’s Mike Coppinger, $500,000. Another fine will be received should Eubank fail to make the rehydration clause tomorrow morning.

Though Benn seems delighted with the outcome, many in the sport have had suspicions confirmed that the middleweight limit is no longer good for Eubank’s health at 35-years-old. The most vocal critic has been his own father, Chris Eubank Sr, who has publicly declared the ‘disgraceful’ bout as ‘against the rules.’

The British boxing legend, whose fights with Nigel Benn started this rivalry, has maintained that the main event will not go ahead, however it appears that the first hurdle, though pricey, has been crossed and the promotion rolls on.
