Terence Crawford Finally Admits Doubts Over Beating Canelo And Reveals Honest Chances Of Winning

Terence Crawford will take on Canelo Alvarez in a huge battle in less than three months.

The pair will collide at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday 13 September, and it will be broadcast live worldwide on Netflix.

It sees Crawford making an ambitious jump up in weight, moving up two divisions from super-welterweight to super-middleweight in order to challenge Canelo for his undisputed crown at 168lbs.

‘Bud’ has spent the majority of his career campaigning at welterweight, but moved up to 154lbs for his last contest as he defeated Israil Madrimov to win the WBA super-welterweight title in August 2024.

It means it will have been over a year since Crawford last fought by the time he steps into the ring with Canelo, while the Mexican superstar has competed twice since then, claiming victories over Edgar Berlanga and William Scull.

A lot of fans believe it could be a step too far for Crawford, but up until now ‘Bud’ has remained extremely confident that he has what it takes to defeat the Mexican superstar.

That confidence may have dwindled slightly though, after he revealed in an interview with Piers Morgan that he doesn’t have 100% belief of being victorious.

“We’re never 100%. I’ll say 70%.

I’m always high on confidence. If you don’t have confidence in yourself then why should anybody else believe in you. I’m the type of person that’s been told I couldn’t do something or I had to move out of Omaha to become something. My self-belief and my self-determination has got me to where I am now.”

Canelo has been competing at the highest level for over a decade, and he recently revealed whether he believes Crawford is better than his former foe Floyd Mayweather, who the Mexican icon took on back on September 2013.
