Pound-for-pound great Terence Crawford has predicted the outcome of the controversial match-up between Gervonta Davis and Jake Paul.
Three-weight world champion ‘Tank’ Davis is set to face ‘The Problem Child’ in a scheduled ten round exhibition contest on Friday November 14 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.
Davis has not fought since a majority decision draw against countryman Lamont Roach Jr back in March, although it has been argued by some fans and experts that the 30-year-old from Baltimore should have been handed the first defeat of his career by Roach.
As for Paul, the 28-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer made his return to the ring on June 28 when he defeated Mexico’s former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr via unanimous decision at the conclusion of their cruiserweight bout in Anaheim.
Many boxing figures have already had their saw on how they believe the Paul vs. Davis clash may unfold, and now recently crowned undisputed super-middleweight champion Crawford has shared his verdict.
Speaking on the Full Send Podcast, ‘Bud’ Crawford was full of praise for the punching power of Paul as he claims the controversial former YouTube star will be ‘too big’ for the three-division champion.
“Jake is too big for Tank. In reality he’s way too big for Tank. Tank is very talented, can punch hard and is explosive. Jake can punch with that right hand. I’ve seen it up close and personal. The dude is big, he’s not as slow as people think he is and he can punch.
“Honestly I think Jake by youth. There ain’t no winner, it’s an exhibition, but Jake is too big. If they really go at it, he’s too big. Tank isn’t going to be able to get in from that jab. Jake land one good punch on Tank it’s over with.”
It was revealed earlier this week that the controversial clash between Davis and Paul will have a maximum weight limit of 195lbs, and whilst it remains an exhibition bout, there will be three judges scoring it at ringside to ensure a winner is announced, should the fight go the full ten rounds.
