Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are just three months away from their highly anticipated mega-fight.
It was confirmed earlier this month that the pound-for-pound superstars will do battle at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday September 13.
Canelo is set to make the first defence of his undisputed super-middleweight crown against ‘Bud’ in what is his second reign as champion, after he added the IBF title to his collection with a points victory over William Scull on May 3.
The pair went face-to-face for the second time in a press-conference in New York City on Sunday, which ended with Canelo shoving Crawford after what was an intense face-off.
Prior to that, Canelo addressed boxing powerbroker Turki Alalshikh, saying, “Turki, you need to put a small ring,” in order to make it an entertaining fight following a dull affair against mover Scull last time out.
Crawford responded by sending one simple message to the Mexican star.
“The only running that I’m gonna be doing is running upside his head and I can assure you that, facts. And he got a big head too,”
‘Bud’ is set to make the jump up in two weight classes ahead of his battle with Canelo this September, having spent the majority of his professional career campaigning at welterweight.
The 37-year-old made his super-welterweight debut last August when he dethroned WBA champion Israil Madrimov, albeit in an underwhelming twelve round performance.
Canelo has been a dominant force at 168lbs since he made the move up from middleweight seven years ago, defeating the likes of Gennady Golovkin, Jaime Munguia and Jermell Charlo amongst a number of other challengers.
