Terence Crawford hasn’t held back when it comes to Gervonta Davis.
A big shock came on Saturday night when WBA lightweight champion Davis failed to defeat Lamont Roach, with their fight ending in a majority decision draw.
It was an extremely competitive battle, with Roach performing much better than most fans expected heading into the contest, as he gave as good as he got against ‘Tank’ throughout all 12 rounds.
An extremely controversial moment came in round nine, when Davis voluntarily took a knee and retreated to his corner, with the referee choosing not to give him a count for his actions.
It proved to be critical in the outcome, as with the judges scoring it 115-113 Davis and 114-114 twice, a 10-8 round for Roach would have been enough to secure him the victory.
Crawford has shared his thoughts on the result on social media, and says that Roach was ‘robbed’ due to the decision not to score a knockdown against Davis.
“Roach won and that should have been called a knock down. They robbed that boy and it’s crazy. I never seen someone take a knee and they don’t count it as a knock down. Must of forgot the rules for tonight.”
Davis revealed that he took the knee due to his eyes burning from grease dripping from his hair, and that he wants an immediate rematch with Roach.
That could prevent a potential unification clash with WBC champion Shakur Stevenson, and Stevenson has joined Crawford in giving his verdict on what he made of the performance from ‘Tank.’
