Terence Crawford has responded to comments made by Oscar De La Hoya ahead of his monumental showdown with Canelo Alvarez.
It was confirmed earlier this month that the 37-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska will challenge Canelo for the undisputed super-middleweight championship at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday September 13.
The pound-for-pound stars faced-off for the first time last week, as the second press-conference of their global press tour ended with Canelo shoving Crawford during the final face off which led to the pair being separated by security.
One man who has spoken openly about the upcoming ‘mega-fight’ between Crawford and Canelo is legendary fighter-turned-promoter De La Hoya, who actually promoted the Mexican icon during the early stages of his career.
Speaking in a media scrum, ‘Bud’ sent his response to De La Hoya after the retired six-division world champion claimed Canelo would ‘run Crawford out of the ring’ on fight night.
“Well you know, when you see Oscar changing up his tone and his opinion every week, you know, it’s hard to believe anything that he says.
“One minute he says this about Canelo, next minute he say that about Canelo, but that’s why we fight, so we can see if he’s gonna run me out the ring. September 13, everybody’s questions will be answered.”
A victory for Crawford would see the unbeaten American make history by becoming the first male fighter in boxing history to win an undisputed championship at three weight classes, having already conquered this feat at super-lightweight and welterweight.
