Terence Crawford has given his verdict on Shakur Stevenson vs. Josh Padley.

Stevenson was originally set to take on Floyd Schofield on last night’s card, before the young American was forced out of the fight on Tuesday due to illness.

That allowed Padley to step up and take the fight on short notice, jetting in from the UK to go up against one of the best 135lb fighters in the world.

Despite Padley putting up a good effort, it was a fairly comprehensive victory from Stevenson, who eventually managed to secure the stoppage victory at the end of the ninth round.

Some boxing fans felt that Stevenson should have won the fight a lot earlier, considering that Padley had only taken the fight on a few days notice.

Crawford has now given his take on the fight, telling Seconds Out that the amount of time it took for the stoppage doesn’t matter.

“He had a late replacement, he had to adjust and he got the job done. It don’t matter if he did it in the first round or last round. He got the job done.”

One man who seemingly wasn’t impressed with Stevenson’s performance was his lightweight rival Gervonta Davis, who tweeted “lol” during the fight.

Crawford was asked about the comment, and played down the opinion of ‘Tank.’

“What can you say? He won the fight. What are you lol-ing about?”

Crawford was then asked about a potential clash between Stevenson and Davis.

“It’s a great fight. That’s why we all want to see it.”

Davis is in action himself next weekend, defending his WBA lightweight title against Lamont Roach.
