Terence Crawford is a matter of weeks away from taking on Canelo Alvarez.
Two of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world will meet when Crawford steps up to super-middleweight to challenge Canelo for his undisputed crown at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on September 13.
Many onlookers believe that the size difference could be a big factor in the fight, with Canelo previously claiming world honours at light heavyweight in his career, while Crawford’s first world title was at 135lbs.
The Mexican superstar has 39 knockouts to his name, one of them coming in the aforementioned WBO light heavyweight title victory over Sergey Kovalev in November 2019.
Crawford has revealed he isn’t just worried about his rival’s power though, as he told Club Shay Shay that he views Canelo as ‘a complete fighter.’
“Canelo is not just a puncher. I don’t know why [people say that]. They don’t know boxing, they’re just looking at him being strong. He’s a great boxer. People are taking away from his boxing skills and just thinking he’s this puncher when that’s not true.
“That’s why I laugh because we’re not just looking at Canelo as a whole fighter, a complete fighter. He can take a punch, he can deliver a punch, he can counter-punch you, he can box you, he can punch on you, a good body puncher, a good fighter that has good balance, you never how him out of position. We’re looking at all of that.”
While Crawford isn’t viewing Canelo as just a puncher, one fighter who has sparred both men believes the fight is more than capable of being ended with just ‘one punch.’
