Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez have been deep in preparations for their showdown in a matter of weeks.
‘Bud’ is aiming to become the first ever male fighter to become undisputed in three different divisions, having already achieved it at both super-lightweight and welterweight.
It will be a difficult task against Canelo though, who is yet to ever taste defeat at super-middleweight since moving to that division seven years ago.
Both fighters have sparred many rounds in the build-up, with Canelo surprising many earlier this month when it was revealed that former unified welterweight champion Jaron Ennis had been brought in as a sparring partner during camp.
Ennis was WBA and IBF welterweight champion before recently vacating those titles to head up to 154lbs, having spent a number of years trying to secure a bout with ‘Bud’ himself.
Crawford’s trainer Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre has now spoken for the first time on what he made of Canelo choosing to spar with Ennis, but certainly didn’t seem impressed, as he told Ring Magazine that ‘Boots’ isn’t anywhere near the level of Crawford.
“That don’t mean sh*t. That don’t mean nothing. Boots ain’t no Crawford. That isn’t going to help him. He should have just got the last cab driver he just fought. That don’t mean nothing. He ain’t no ‘Bud’ Crawford. They don’t have that mentality.”
Prior to sparring Canelo, Ennis made his prediction for how he expects the fight between the Mexican superstar and ‘Bud’ to play out.
