Dana White has some choice words for fighter-turned-promoter Oscar De La Hoya.
The UFC boss is just hours away from promoting Zuffa Boxing 01, promising a takeover of the sport and sparking much controversy and debate.
Zuffa and White recently announced the signing of reigning IBF world cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia, their first major acquisition since they were founded back in the summer of 2025.
Speaking in a press conference lately, White defended the proposed changes to the Muhammad Ali Act and said he ‘doesn’t listen’ to rival promoter De La Hoy, who has been critical of the move and the UFC CEO in general.
“Well here’s the thing. They were very concerned about the Muhammad Ali Act and all these other things. None of that is gonna change for them. Nothing’s gonna change. You got the Muhammad Ali [Act], we’re not changing one word of that, it’s gonna be in tact.
“Now, fighters are gonna have more options. Why is that a bad thing? Why are more options a bad thing? It’s not. I expected it anyway so. And I don’t listen to f—–g Oscar De La Hoya anyway. Anybody who listens to him is out of their f—–g mind. So I don’t worry about him.”
Unbeaten Irish prospect Callum Walsh tops Zuffa’s very first boxing show on Friday night as he faces Mexico’s Carlos Ocampo in a ten round middleweight bout at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, with the card also featuring the likes of Cain Sandoval and Floyd Diaz.
