A former victim of Daniel Dubois is keen to have a second shot at the British heavyweight contender.

Dubois has had a storied career despite still being a relatively young fighter. He has had upset losses, controversial moments with the two-time undisputed ruler Oleksandr Usyk, and also been world champion, but right now he is on the sidelines and has been for almost six months.

He has now been called out by another top contender though, as in a new video, Croatian heavyweight Filip Hrgovic has outlined some ideal fight options and included a rematch with ‘DDD’.

“I hope I’ll be in the ring soon. There are a few very good options. There’s the option to face Daniel Dubois in a rematch. Everyone knows that I was sick and injured before the fight, so I wasn’t at my best level. So I would welcome that fight as well.”

The first fight saw Dubois continue his fine form at that time. After knocking out Jarrell Miller in December 2023, he went on to stop Hrgovic in June 2024, which saw him elevated to full IBF champion, before then stopping Anthony Joshua in September the same year.

Hrgovic has long claimed he got ill in the lead up to that fight and so didn’t enter the ring in the best of shape, which is why he is keen to right the wrong of the defeat. He has since beaten Joe Joyce and David Adeleye.

Dubois, meanwhile, eventually lost in August 2025 to Usyk for a second time and has not yet fought again, though he should be back this year, and Hrgovic would be a solid option.
