Daniel Dubois Comeback Opponent Named And A Win Will Fast Track Him To World Title Shot

Daniel Dubois appears to have his next opponent set.

Dubois was last in action in July when he lost his IBF heavyweight title to Oleksandr Usyk in their undisputed clash at Wembley Stadium.

It was a dominant performance from the Ukrainian, who stopped Dubois inside five rounds, with question marks again raised about the heart of ‘DDD’ after it was claimed by some that he chose to stay down on his knee rather than continue, something that has been evident in the past against Joe Joyce and in his first meeting with Usyk.

In the aftermath of the rematch with Usyk, it also emerged that Dubois had a party at his home on the day of the fight which drew even further criticism, and he has since parted ways with trainer Don Charles, as he bids to get his career back on track and return to world title contention.

Dubois had become IBF world champion last year after being elevated from interim status, then made a successful defence against Anthony Joshua before coming up short in the bout with Usyk.

The Brit could now find himself just one fight away from another shot at Usyk though, after it was reported by Sky Sports that he has accepted an IBF final eliminator against Frank Sanchez.

Dubois has received the opportunity after numerous fighters turned down the shot, including Moses Itauma, Efe Ajagba and Richard Torrez.

Sanchez has a record of 25 wins and just one defeat, with that coming in May 2024 when he was stopped in the seventh round by Agit Kabayel.
