Daniel Dubois is currently in camp for the biggest fight of his career.
Dubois is the current IBF world champion though didn’t win the title in the ring. Instead, in his last fight, he beat tough Croatian contender Fillip Hrgovic for the interim title, and was then elevated to full champion when Oleksandr Usyk vacated the belt in order to rematch Tyson Fury rather than fight his mandatory.
Dubois is defending the belt against fellow Brit Anthony Joshua in September and is in the best form of his career. Before the Hrgovic win, he got a late stoppage over American Jarrell Miller after overcoming some heavy fire in the early rounds.
Joshua too is in a good place having put together four victories, three of them knockouts, since April last year. Most recently he blasted out former UFC champion Francis Ngannou in March and is now looking to become a three-time world champion by beating Dubois.
However, one heavyweight claims that both men are scared to face him after dishing out some punishment in sparring sessions. Number one ranked WBA contender Martin Bakole told iFLV TV that he has done plenty of damage to the nose of Dubois.
“I broke his nose twice and stopped him. That’s not a lie. He will never come say I’m lying.
Joe Joyce the same, you see the video I posted. I feel bad to post some stuff like that because it can happen to me as well in sparring in the camp.”
Bakole is looking to put himself into title contention when he faces highly rated American Jared Anderson this weekend on the undercard of Terence Crawford’s world title shot against Israil Madrimov at 154 lbs.
