Daniel Dubois is one of the heavyweight division’s newer stars and he has a clear view on the career of former world champion and lineal ruler Tyson Fury.

Dubois is the IBF strap holder who was elevated to full champion after his impressive win over Filip Hrogivic in June 2024. That was just six months after a breakout stoppage victory over Jarrell Miller which came in the dying seconds of the 10th round after he took plenty of heavy fire earlier on in their fight in December 2023.

Last time out in September, ‘DDD’ put on his best display yet. He had former two-time champion Anthony Joshua down at the end of the first round and then finished him inside five to retain his belt and truly assert himself in the division.

Speaking to Seconds Out after Oleksandr Usyk‘s second victory over Fury back in December, Dubois was asked what ‘The Gypsy King’ should do next.

“He should retire in my opinion. He’s done everything. But it’s my time now, I want to be the next man.”

Since then, Dubois has rather stalled after he had to withdraw late in the day from his scheduled fight in February with Joseph Parker owing to the fact that he came down with a virus.

He is now keen to get a second shot at Usyk for undisputed honours having lost by KO to the Ukrainian back in the summer of 2023, but has also been mandated to fight IBF challenger Derek Chisora.

Meanwhile, for now, Fury remains retired although many hope he will make a ring return to take on long-time rival Joshua.
