Daniel Dubois has given his view on the upcoming contest between Moses Itauma and Dillian Whyte.

This fight has got many people talking, given what a crossroads it could be for both men. Whyte had been out of action for a while after failing a drug test that he later said was proved to be due to contamination, so he was free to fight again.

Since then, he has beaten Christian Hammer in March 2024, then Ebenezer Tetteh in December last year. Before that he fought and lost to the likes of Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury and beat Joseph Parker, Derek Chisora twice and avenged a loss to Alexander Povetkin.

Now 37, he is very much in the autumn of his career, while 20-year-old Itauma is at the start. He has had 12 fights, won 10 of them by knockout, and is being tipped for the very top by many in the sport and those who have seen him up close and sparring.

Speaking to Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, reigning IBF heavyweight champion Dubois was asked for his views on the contest and found it hard to call.

“It’s a good fight. Let’s see what Dillian’s got left, or if the young prospect will blow him out of there. Let’s see, I don’t know. He’s a tough old guy, DIllian. Let’s see how much he has left. He’s been around a while now.”

A loss could signal the end for Whyte, while a win for Itauma, who is WBO number one, could get him in line for a world title shot before too long.

Who that would be against will be decided on July 19 when IBF champion Dubois rematches unified ruler Usyk for all four belts at Wembley Stadium.
