Daniel Dubois has offered a retired world champion a route back to the top of the sport should he make a ring return.

Dubois, the current IBF champion, is a man full of confidence. After a rocky start to his career that included an upset loss to Joe Joyce which left many questioning his resolve in the boxing ring, ‘DDD’ has very much turned it around.

He showed he could come through heavy fire when he beat Jarrell Miller in the final round of their clash back in December 2023, then again stood strong against the well-rated Filip Hrgovic in June 2024 and stopped the Croatian.

His biggest test came in September 2024 when he took on former two-time world champion Anthony Joshua. Dubois put his man down in the first round, then stopped him inside five to retain his heavyweight title.

He is now going into an undisputed clash with Oleksandr Usyk in July when he tries to avenge his first loss to Usyk, which came via ninth round stoppage, in August of 2023.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Dubois said that if Tyson Fury, who has been retired since January after back-to-back losses to Usyk in 2024, is to return, he would happily take him on.

“I think he’s definitely going to come back. When I beat Usyk, I can fight him next. Who knows? “There’s so many great heavyweights at the moment. He’ll be desperate to get back in the mix.”

Dubois would be the first British undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis if he were to beat Usyk, but that is something no man has yet managed in the professional boxing ring.

As for Fury, most suspect that his retirement will be short-lived and he has even started teasing clips from the gym with coach SugarHill Steward. The general feeling is that he will return for a long-awaited clash with Joshua, how this, plus a trilogy offer from Usyk should he beat Dubois, gives him options.
