Popular British heavyweight Dave Allen has taken the punches of Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois.
All three of those men he has faced behind closed doors in sparring, while he has also been to Ukraine to spar with former undisputed world champion Oleksandr Usyk amongst many other top heavyweights.
In the professional ring, Allen has taken on and lost to the likes of David Price, Dillian Whyte and Luis Ortiz. However, this past weekend he secured one of the best wins of his career, alongside a stoppage of Lucas Browne, with a 5th round knockout of Essex’s Johnny Fisher – a big puncher himself – having lost a contentious decision on the cards when they first fought back in December.
However, none of the men above hit harder than Derek Chisora, according to the notoriously tough Allen.
Speaking to talkSPORT recently, ‘The White Rhino’ praised ‘Del Boy’s ‘concussive power.’
“I think for one punch power, Derek Chisora. Obviously, I don’t think he was the best, but in terms of one-punch power and brute force, it is him. His right hand was very heavy. Not the quickest and not much disguise to it. I could see it coming, and I could brace for it, but I felt it, that is for sure.
“He’s a different kind of puncher to someone like Anthony Joshua. Joshua is a lot faster and crisper. Chisora is more concussive. Joshua caused me more problems in sparring, but in terms of raw power, it is Chisora.”
The 41-year-old Brit 23 knockouts from 36 wins and has found form of late that means he gives every man he steps through the ropes with a tough night.
Chisora beat Otto Wallin last time out in his 49th contest and is aiming for his 50th and final bout to be a world title shot, given his favourably ranking with the IBF. He says he will have a keen eye on Usyk’s upcoming undisputed rematch with Dubois, however fan-friendly bouts like a trilogy with Dillian Whyte are also there to be made before he hangs up the gloves on a storied career.
Allen, after his British-level resurgence, has said it would be an honour to face Chisora in the professional ring.
