Dave Allen has weighed in with his view on Oleksandr Usyk calling out Deontay Wilder for a fight next year.

Usyk has not fought since he made history by becoming the first-ever two-time undisputed champion in the four-belt era back in August when he stopped Daniel Dubois for a second time.

It completed a superb run that also saw him twice beat Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury without ever hitting the canvas, and rarely even looking in trouble.

After vacating his WBO belt rather than facing mandatory challenger Fabio Wardley, he announced last week he was keen on a fight with the once long-reigning WBC champion, Wilder.

Speaking to Boxing King Media, popular British heavyweight Allen, who has sparred Usyk in the past, was asked how he felt about the contest.

“I think beating Wilder completes the set. Joshua, Fury, Wilder were the biggest three of our generation before Usyk came along and blew it open. So I understand it from that perspective and probably a money-generating perspective as well.

“But the current Deontay Wilder doesn’t deserve a world title shot in my opinion, but if it’s good for business, it will happen. But I don’t think he’s a deserving challenger, no.”

Wilder got a straightforward win in June over Tyrrell Herndon. But that was his first action for a year since he was stopped by Zhilei Zhang and beaten on points by Joseph Parker in 2024.

This fight offers him a quick route back to the top, but it would be one of the most challenging contests of his career.
