David Benavidez Reveals What Impressed Him Most From Terence Crawford’s Performance Against Canelo

Terence Crawford secured his place in boxing folklore with a monumental victory over Canelo Alvarez last month.

The 38-year-old from Omaha put on an impressive display to defy the odds and dethrone Canelo of his undisputed super-middleweight championship at a sold out Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on September 13.

Crawford extended his unbeaten professional record to 42-0 in the process, becoming the first male fighter in boxing history to win an undisputed world championship in three weight classes.

One fighter in particular that will be looking to emulate Crawford’s outstanding achievements in years to come is reigning WBC light-heavyweight champion David Benavidez, who is emerging as one of the biggest stars in the sport.

Speaking to Fight Hype, Benavidez praised Crawford for his incredible performance against Canelo, as he claims the five-weight world champion’s ‘heart’ impressed him more than anything else.

“What impressed me the most was Crawford’s ability to stay focused in the fight and not only just to stay focused and box, but he also got rugged in there. He started brawling with him towards the late rounds.

“That’s something I appreciate in a fighter, he was already up he could have chose to just box but he went in there and tried to brawl with him in the last round so that’s really what impressed me, his heart, his heart more than anything impressed me.”

Crawford is expected to take some time away from the sport before he decides on what will be next for him, although reports have suggested that he could potentially make the move down to middleweight in a bid to become a six-weight world champion before the end of his career.
