David Haye has given what is a controversial take on Jake Paul‘s upcoming contest with Anthony Joshua.
Paul has been sharing videos of himself looking sharp on the bags this week just a few days before he steps into he ring with Joshua, who will tower above him at 6ft6 and 245lbs, which is the most he will be able to weigh on the day.
Joshua is also vastly more experienced than Paul, who is still a novice pro with just 13 fights under his belt, primarily against ageing opponents or those who are new to boxing having crossed over from MMA, whilst he also suffered one loss to Tommy Fury.
Speaking to iFL TV, former world heavyweight champion Haye explained why he would be backing Paul.
“If I’m a betting man, it’s not really worth betting on Anthony Joshua cause he’s such a heavy favourite. I bet on Jake Paul to win for a no contest, draw, technical draw or something crazy to happen. I bet Jake Paul finds a way to win or get a draw, technical draw, cause you’ll get 10-1 odds.
I’d say yeah, don’t put your life savings on it but if you’re going to have a little flutter, you’d get something back. I would be the biggest sporting upset if this happens, not just boxing, in any sport, if someone with such a lack of experience at the world level challenges someone who is world level and has proven it. “
