David Haye Names The One Heavyweight That Would Have ‘Knocked Him Out Spectacularly’

David Haye always backed himself against anyone but has had to admit that there is one man he thinks would ‘spectacularly’ knock him out.

Haye was one of the best cruiserweights on the planet during the peak of his career. He unified the division in 2008 when he won three of the four major belts as well as the Ring magazine and lineal titles.

After that he moved up to heavyweight and defeated the towering Nikolai Valuev to become the WBA world heavyweight champion, making him the first man since Evander Holyfield to unify at cruiserweight and go on to lift world honours in the banner division.

A loss to Wladimir Klitschko followed in 2011, as did a spate of injuries and two back-to-back losses to Tony Bellew in 2017 and 2018 to send Haye into retirement.

Speaking to Mail Sport Boxing ‘The Hayemaker’ was asked to pick a winner in several fantasy heavyweight matchups which included a clash between himself and fellow Brit, Lennox Lewis, and the 43-year-old didn’t hold back with his honest prediction.

“Lennox by spectacular knockout is how that would go.”

Until Oleksandr Usyk beat Tyson Fury to become the first ever four-belt undisputed champion back in May, Lewis was the last man to hold all of the major belts in the heavyweight division. That was back in 1999 when he defeated Holyfield after a controversial draw in their first encounter. Lewis retired in 2004 having been a three-time world champion and one of only a handful of fighters to retire after defeating every man he ever faced.
