David Price Predicts Conor Benn vs Ryan Garcia: “His Speed Is The Difference”

Conor Benn is set to fight Ryan Garcia later this year, and retired heavyweight David Price has given his view on how it might go.

Benn will be taking a huge step up when he enters the ring against American world champion Garcia. In his last three fights, Benn has fought Chris Eubank Jr twice, losing the first one by a wide points margin.

He reversed that result in the rematch six months later, though many people believe Eubank was weight-drained following a sustained period down at 160 despite having fought as high as 168lb in previous fights.

After that, Benn returned in April against Regis Prograis, a former champion who was making his debut at a 150lbs catchweight and looked there for the beating, but Benn failed to land the hurtful shots required, so instead took another points win, and Prograis retired in the ring after the final bell.

When appearing on The Smith Brothers: Not A Podcast, Liam said he sided with Ryan Garcia and Price agreed.

“Two big names. Big, big fight. Yeah, I think so [Garcia wins], I think his hand speed- Conor Benn’s got good hand speed – but I think Garcia’s hand speed could make a difference in the fight.”

Garcia won his WBC world title from Mario Barrios earlier this year and has also shared the ring with world-level fighters Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney, whom he beat, though later had the result scrubbed off after failing a drug test.

The contest is set for Las Vegas in September, with most predicting an easy night for Garcia.
