David Price Predicts Derek Chisora vs Deontay Wilder: “He’ll Outlast Him”

David Price has given his insight on this weekend’s fight between Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder.

These are two veteran heavyweights who have both fought 49 times before. Wider did reign as world champion for several years and at one stage had knocked out every man he had faced, but was then twice stopped by Tyson Fury.

Since then, he has lost twice more against Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang, with just one win last June against Tyrell Herndon in his last five contests. Both fighters are now in their forties and looking for a big win.

Speaking to Boxing News, Price, who has previously shared the ring with Chisora, spoke up the experience and boxing skills of ‘Del Boy.’

“I think it’s still an interesting fight regardless. Wilder’s had had back-to-back defeats, then come back and got a win, proved that in the heavyweight division if you’re a name your only ever one win away from a big fight. He’s going to get paid well in this Chisora fight, coming to the end of his career.

“Derek Chisora just keeps proving everyone wrong and proving that his longevity, tells you more about his boxing ability than everyone else. If Derek Chisora weren’t as good as people think he is, he would have had to retire a long time ago. He doesn’t take as many punches clean as people may perceive him to.

“He’s got a better defence than people give him credit for, that’s why he’s still going, otherwise, if he was getting hit as much as people make out, he’d be in a wheelchair. He’s save, he’s ring savvy. He knows when to take a blow, he can recover from taking a shot and for that reason, I think he’ll outlast Wilder and I think he’ll win the fight either on points or late rounds.”

Chisora always said he wanted to retire after 50 contests but were he to have his hand raised, he may be tempted to try and hunt down another world title fight before walking away for good.
