David Price Predicts Tyson Fury Comeback Fight vs Makhmudov

David Price has given his view on Tyson Fury’s comeback fight against tough Russian Arslanbek Makhmudov.

Fury will have been out of the ring for 15 months when he steps in with Makhmudov in April. His last two fights were consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, which led him to retire back in January 2025.

Makhmudov has been competing that whole time. Last time out at the end of 2025, he got a solid win over Dave Allen after weathering an early storm and eventually taking hold of the fight with his ramrod jab, though he has previously been knocked out by a body shot from Agit Kabayel.

Speaking to Boxing News, Price gave his read on the fight.

“I think it’s a wise pick, to be honest. Obviously, given the fact that Makhmudov has beaten a name in the UK in his last fight in Dave Allen and has looked good enough doing so I think it’s a wise pick.

“We know he can be beaten, we know he can be hurt, he’s not invincible but he’s going to keep Tyson Fury switched on, lively, he’s going to be a threat, which is what Tyson Fury need, he’s doesn’t need to be in with someone that he thinks that – look what happen in the Francis Ngannou fight, Tyson Fury got complacent and nearly lost, he can’t afford that this time round. He needs someone that will get him switched on, and Makhmudov can do that. His defence is attack, which will also create opening for Fury. I think it’s a good pick.”

A win here for Fury would set him up to go on a push for bigger fights with world champions like WBO ruler Fabio Wardley, or a huge showdown with fellow Brit Anthony Joshua, which is the fight the fans most want to see.
