David Price has given his breakdown of the upcoming showdown between Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois.
This fight will be Wardley’s first defence of the WBO belt he was awarded after Oleksandr Usyk vacated the title in late 2025.
The Ipswich man had become interim champion with a win over Joseph Parker, where he was behind on the cards in the contest, but, as he did against Justis Huni in his previous contest, he found some late power and stopped the New Zealander.
Dubois, meanwhile, has not fought since he was stopped by Usyk for the second time last summer.
Speaking to Fight Lens, Price explained why he thinks it is such a good match-up.
“What a fight that is, great fight. Before the recent fight, Daniel Dubois had more momentum than anyone in the world in heavyweight boxing. Coming off some great wins, beat ‘Baby Miller’, Anthony Joshua, Hrgovic, some great wins.
“I’m a fan of Daniel Dubois, great jab, great timing with the jab, obviously, he’s a Hulk of a man, he can knock anybody out, but Fabio Wardley has got something not many men have got. His hand speed is phenomenal and he’s explosive with it, so it’s an exciting fight. I’m really looking forward to that one.”
He then made his prediction and sided with the Ipswich man.
“I think Fabio Wardley can win the fight by knockout, but not without being in trouble himself first. But he’s going to have to survive and not switch off for a second.
“That’s the thing with Daniel Dubois, but I think Wardley can catch him with a punch he won’t see coming and won’t anticipate, and they’re the ones that hurt, the ones you don’t see coming.”
Whoever comes out on top in this fight will have some huge nights ahead with the likes of Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury back in action, as well as the fast-rising Moses Itauma hunting his maiden world title shot.
