Gervonta Davis is one of the most popular fighters in the game right now.

Baltimore-born ‘Tank’ is a multi-weight world champion who has held the WBA lightweight title since 2023 having also held the IBF and WBA super featherweight belts and the WBA super lightweight title before that.

He has some big wins on his record including against the likes of Leo Santa Cruz, Mario Barrios and Rolando Romero, though his most notable win to date came last April when he stopped Ryan Garcia with a body shot in Las Vegas.

His only fight so far this year came in June when he defended his belt once more with an 8th round KO of Frank Martin.

Fans are keen for ‘Tank’ to be more active and to fight fellow stars in and around his division such as Shakur Stevenson or Devin Haney.

Speaking on Fight Hub TV, Davis began laying into another possible future opponent in Teofimo Lopez, who is never short of an opinion and recently claimed Haney and Kambosos have turned down offers from his team.

“I’m gonna slap the sh*t out of him when I see him.”

Lopez is the WBO super-lightweight belt holder who has also held several titles down at lightweight. Most famously he beat Vasily Lomachenko to become a unified champion but lost to George Kambosos Jr in his next fight. He was recently criticised for comments made about Davis and Terence Crawford, which is likely what has prompted this reaction.

Davis is set to fight Lamont Roach in March next year, while Lopez doesn’t currently have a fight scheduled and would represent a much more exciting opponent should ‘Tank’ look to venture up in weight again.
