Gervonta Davis Has Now Completely Ruled Out Fighting One World Champion Next

Gervonta Davis returns to the ring against Lamont Roach Jr in March.

‘Tank’ will be making the latest defence of his WBA lightweight title when he faces Roach at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

It sees current WBA super-featherweight champion Roach stepping up in weight for the clash at 135lbs, as he looks to become the first man to defeat Davis.

They recently kicked off their promotion of the event with two press conferences, where ‘Tank’ surprised a lot of people by claiming he will retire at the end of 2025.

It means that there may only be a few fights left for Davis in the sport, with fans keen to see him in the biggest fights possible, including potential unification bouts with the other world champions at lightweight.

It seems one of them definitely won’t be happening though, as ‘Tank’ revealed his next intentions in a video captured by Fighthype.

“I’ve got somebody I want to call out after this fight.”

Davis was then asked if that could be current IBF lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko.

“No.”

Lomachenko captured the vacant IBF belt back in May, the first time he held world honours again since losing to Teofimo Lopez back in October 2020.

There was talks earlier this year for a fight between Davis and Lomachenko, but the Ukrainian pulled out due to a lack of motivation. It now seems ‘Tank’ is no longer focusing on that bout taking place.

A fight with WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson could be another option for Davis, but it seems that ‘Tank’ has already made it clear that he wouldn’t be interested in that either.
