Gervonta Davis and Jake Paul are just two months away from their controversial exhibition showdown.
Reigning WBA lightweight champion ‘Tank’ Davis is set to face YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul in a scheduled ten round exhibition clash on Friday November 14 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, live and exclusive on Netflix.
Davis’ last outing came back in March when he fought to a majority decision draw against countryman Lamont Roach Jr in New York City, although it has been argued that ‘The Reaper’ was the deserving winner on the night.
As for Paul, the 28-year-old Cleveland-native made his ring return back in June when he defeated Mexico’s former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr via unanimous decision at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
After it was revealed by MVP’s Nakisa Bidarian that Davis’ exhibition bout with Paul would have a weight limit of 195lbs, ‘Tank’ made his feelings clear at their launch press conference on Monday night, claiming that he was told there would be a maximum weight limit of 190lbs.
“It was 190 … Y’all said it was 190.”
Further details have revealed there will be three judges scoring the controversial match-up at ringside, although it has been confirmed that the bout is an exhibition and will not be officially sanctioned as a professional contest.
It has also been announced that both fighters will be wearing 12oz gloves on fight night, a decision that has been made based on the substantial size and weight discrepancy between ‘Tank’ and Paul, which could be between 40 and 50 pounds.
