Oscar De La Hoya has let fans into a significant detail of the upcoming Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez versus Terence Crawford fight.

The main event on September 13 in Las Vegas will see two of the most talented fighters in the sport go toe-to-toe, with Crawford moving up two weight classes from his last outing for the challenge. Canelo puts his undisputed super-middleweight world title on the line in his 68th fight.

The card will be promoted by Turki Alalshikh’s Riyadh Season alongside with Dana White and Sela, and shown globally on streaming giant Netflix with a venue yet to be announced.

De La Hoya, who had a bitter promotional split from Canelo some years ago, took issue with White’s involvement, as well as the fight being branded the biggest in the last ten years.

“What the media is reporting is that Canelo Crawford is the biggest fight of the decade. To a purest and a fighter, it’s laughable. You have Crawford jumping up two weight classes to fight Canelo, who is a natural light-heavyweight.”

“You have Crawford, who couldn’t push back [Israil] Madrimov. Life and death with Madrimov. What do you think Canelo is going to do to him? Run him out of the ring. You know what’s laughable also? Dana White being named the promoted of this fight considering he’s never been in the boxing space, has no stable of boxers. He didn’t negotiate s**t and is being handed this fight on a silver platter, called promoter. He’s the trust fund baby of boxing.”

The Hall of Fame fighter turned promoter then revealed that the fight will take place during the day in order to accomodate White’s commitment to a UFC event that evening.

“Get this… the fight will take place during the day on September 13th in Las Vegas. So, Canelo will fight during the day on Netflix just to accommodate UFC Noche later that evening on a different network. Does that mean that fight isn’t important? Do they not give a f**k about the fans?”

Nothing official has been released as to the timing of the event but, if De La Hoya is speaking facts, the shine of this intriguing clash will be dulled somewhat.
