Oscar De La Hoya is one of the most decorated fighters of the last three decades.

Known more commonly as ‘The Golden Boy’, De La Hoya captured no less than 11 world titles throughout his career across six weight classes.

De La Hoya prevailed against a number of highly rated fighters throughout his tenure, including the likes of Ike Quarter, Julio Cesar Chavez and Pernell Whitaker to name just a few.

Despite his success, ‘The Golden Boy’ did suffer a handful of defeats during his career, with one of those coming at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr, who defeated him via split decision back in May 2007.

Speaking in a social media post, De La Hoya claimed that ‘Money’ Mayweather should not have walked away from boxing with an unbeaten record, as he claims he was actually beaten by three fighters and should have been disqualified in one fight.

“I promoted 10 Mayweather fights so I know what really happened. Castillo beat him, Maidana beat him and I beat him when I was over the hill. Plus should have been disqualified in the Zab Judah fight.”

There had been talks of a potential rematch between De La Hoya and Mayweather after their controversial first meeting, although this never came to fruition after ‘Money’ announced his retirement from the sport before making an unsurprising return just 1-year later.

‘The Golden Boy’ bounced back from that defeat to Mayweather with a comprehensive points victory over Steve Forbes, but he would suffer defeat again in the final outing of his career at the end of 2008 when he was stopped by Manny Pacquiao in the eighth round of their bout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
