Oscar De La Hoya Sums Up Terence Crawford’s Chances Against Canelo Perfectly In Just 2 Words

Oscar De La Hoya has a bold view when it comes to Terence Crawford vs Canelo Alvarez.

A blockbuster showdown between the two pound-for-pound greats has been speculated over the past year, but it still yet to come to fruition.

‘Bud’ moved up to 154lbs back in August to defeat Israil Madrimov to win the WBA super-welterweight title, becoming a four-weight world champion in the process.

After that victory, Crawford once again made it clear that he would be willing to jump up an unprecedented two more weight divisions for a clash against unified super-middleweight king Canelo.

Alvarez was last in action in September, defeating Edgar Berlanga by unanimous decision to retain his WBC, WBA and WBO titles at 168lbs.

With neither Crawford or Canelo having any opponents set yet for 2025, a bout between the two is still touted, and boxing legend De La Hoya has had his say on the chances of ‘Bud’ whilst speaking to Fight Hub TV.

“No contest.”

While Canelo and De La Hoya may not see eye to eye, that didn’t stop the Golden Boy chief explaining just why Crawford will find it tough.

“At 154, [Crawford] didn’t really look too dangerous up in the ring, against a beast. So imagine Canelo being the bigger guy, being a beast. I mean, come on, when has a smaller good guy ever beaten a good bigger guy. It’s never happened in the history of the sport. It’s rare.”

Former Crawford rival Errol Spence Jr has also given his take on how he thinks ‘Bud’ will do against Canelo.
