Oscar De La Hoya has revealed who he believes Terence Crawford will clash with after his mega-fight against Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez.

The 37-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska is set to face the unified super middleweight champion in September of this year, in what has been described by many as the biggest fight in boxing.

Crawford has already claimed world titles in four weight divisions, as well as the undisputed championship at super lightweight and welterweight.

‘Bud’ is now bidding to conquer Canelo and become the first male fighter in the four-belt era to capture undisputed honours in three weight classes, provided Canelo can defeat IBF champion William Scull in May first.

It will be Crawford’s first appearance in a weight division higher than 154lbs, with many left wondering if the American superstar is going one step too far this time around. ‘Bud’ moved up to super welterweight last August to dethrone WBA champion Israil Madrimov in Los Angeles.

In an interview with iFL TV, Golden Boy chief De La Hoya revealed his interest in setting up a showdown between the division’s WBC ‘Interim’ champion Vergil Ortiz Jr and Crawford at some stage in the future.

“It’s very likely [Crawford fights Ortiz] now that Riyadh Season and Your Excellency is in the picture and with DAZN, the sky is the limit.

“These types of fights, they’re easier to make, they’re fights that the fans want to see and I really, truly think that this fight can be made without a hitch.”

Knockout artist Ortiz made a successful defence of his WBC ‘Interim’ crown against Madrimov in Riyadh on February 22 to extend his unbeaten record to 23-0 with 21 stoppages.

Although the 26-year-old from Texas remains keen on a fight against ‘Bud’ Crawford, he could look to pursue a bout against WBC and WBO champion Sebastian Fundora in the meantime.
