Legendary fighter-turned-promoter Oscar De La Hoya has shared his thoughts on Terence Crawford’s outstanding performance against Canelo Alvarez.

‘Bud’ defeated Mexican icon Canelo against all odds last Saturday night to capture the undisputed super-middleweight world championship at a sold-out Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The three judges at ringside scored the bout 115-113, 115-113 and 116-112 all in favour of the unbeaten American, although it has been suggested by many fans and experts around the world that the cards should have been a lot wider.

In what was his 42nd consecutive victory since his debut back in 2008, Crawford became the first male fighter in boxing history to win an undisputed championship in three weight classes, having already accomplished it at welterweight and super-lightweight respectively.

One man who was seemingly extremely impressed with Crawford was Hall of Fame inductee De La Hoya, as speaking on social media, he claimed ‘Bud’ put on a ‘beautiful’ performance against the Mexican great.

“I predicted the Canelo-Crawford fight like a god damn fortune teller. Canelo’s feet were cemented on the canvas as he was hitting air, what the f**k was that?

Props to Crawford, he came up three weight classes and fought a beautiful fight. What a great performance, like taking candy from a baby.”

It remains to be seen what Crawford’s next move will be after writing his name into the boxing history books once again, although rumours have already began to circulate he could actually move down to middleweight and push towards becoming a six-weight world champion.
