Legendary fighter-turned-promoter Oscar De La Hoya has shared a shock prediction just days before Anthony Joshua clashes with Jake Paul.
Former unified heavyweight champion ‘AJ’ is gearing up to face the former YouTube star in an eight round heavyweight contest at the Kaseya Center in Miami on Friday night.
The 36-year-old from England has been inactive since he suffered the fourth defeat of his professional career to countryman Daniel Dubois in September 2024.
As for Paul, the 28-year-old was last in action on June 28 when he defeated Mexico’s Julio Cesar Chavez Jr via unanimous decision at the conclusion of their cruiserweight bout in Anaheim, California.
Speaking in a social media post, De La Hoya shared his thoughts on the controversial match-up between Joshua and Paul as he backs the American to knock-out ‘AJ’ in a sensational claim.
“I’m actually excited about the Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua fight on Netflix. I’m going with Jake by KO.”
There have been concerns raised about the authenticity of the controversial bout between ‘AJ’ and Paul however as former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder recently spoke out and claimed that he believes there is a chance that the fight could actually be scripted.
Joshua has vowed to break Paul’s face when they step into the ring on Friday night despite there being a number of stipulations in place for the 36-year-old, including a maximum weight limit of 245lbs for the popular British star, although it remains to be seen whether this could play into the hands of ‘The Problem Child’.
