Oscar de la Hoya has had plenty to say about some of boxing’s biggest figures in recent weeks.
The Golden Boy promoter hasn’t pulled any punches when it has come to sharing his thoughts, hitting out at the likes of Canelo Alvarez, Anthony Joshua and Eddie Hearn.
A new target is now in his crosshairs, after De La Hoya turned his attention to ex-world champion and previous opponent, Shane Mosley.
De La Hoya and Mosley first met back in 2000, with Mosley winning by split decision to win the WBC welterweight title. The two would meet again in 2003, with Mosley winning once again, this time via unanimous decision. ‘Sugar’ recently returned to the ring for a celebrity boxing contest, coming out on top in an event in Philadelphia.
Speaking ahead of that celebrity bout in a clip captured by Fight Hub TV, De La Hoya slammed Mosley, criticising his appearance and telling his former rival to stop talking about him.
“Hall of Famer Shane Mosley Sr is returning to the ring this week in Philly for a celebrity boxing match. You looked like you just bathed in Diddy’s baby oil. You talk so much sh*t.
I’m actually going to rise above it because I feel so bad for you. I want to buy out the arena you’re fighting in. Let me know who I can contact so I can make it happen, and by the way, keep my name out of your f**king mouth.”
De La Hoya’s weekly rants show no sign of slowing down, and he recently named the fighter who will be the first man to knock out his former protégé and now long-time rival Canelo.
