Deontay Wilder is still a man many big name heavyweights are keen to fight, including one British star.
The American is now in the final chapter of what has been a storied career. For many years, he ruled with what some called the biggest right hand in boxing, as he won all but one bouts by knockout before eventually drawing with and then losing by KO to Tyson Fury in their first two encounters. He would be stopped again in the third.
Since then, he has also lost to Zhilei Zhang by stoppage and took a points loss to Joseph Parker, which has left him looking to rebuild one last time. Wilder fought just once in 2025 when he stopped Tyrell Herndon in June.
Speaking to iFL TV, former world title challenger Dillian Whyte admitted he still has an interest in fighting ‘The Bronze Bomber.’
“I’d love to get a shot at the world title again, but obviously, it’s about earning money. There’s a couple of guys left from my generation I haven’t fought, Wilder is one of them, Wilder and Andy Ruiz, I would love to fight those guys. I’ve fought everybody from my generation, guys from before me and guys from after me, so yeah.”
Whyte lost to the young rising star Moses Itauma inside two minutes in his last contest in November and is also heading towards the end, so this could be an entertaining match-up between two fighters who have always been in engaging fights, though Oleksandr Usyk has also called out Wilder for a fight in 2026.
