Deontay Wilder has vowed that he will be back in action and chasing down world titles before he ultimately walks away from the sport.

The former WBC heavyweight champion ruled for many years and had a hugely impressive run of knockout victories until he came up against the Gypsy King.

Across the course of three fights with the Brit, he drew one and was knocked out in the other two, which rather derailed him. After that, he was beaten by Joseph Parker on points and knocked out by Zhilei Zhang, then took a year out before returning with a KO win back in June against Tyrell Herndon.

Speaking to BoxNation, his manager Shelly Finkel revealed Wilder will soon be back in action and wants only the biggest fights.

“I’m going to see him next week in New York. He’s training, he’s going to be fighting again the end of the year or early next and then our first choice always would be Joshua but if we can’t get Joshua, if we could get Usyk we’d fight him.

“He’s capable of fighting anyone at any time. There’s no excuses, his losses are his losses. As he’s aged, he’s matured and hopefully you’ll see the future best of him.”

Joshua has not fought himself in more than a year, so he would likely need some tune-ups before agreeing to fight the American puncher, while Usyk has said he has only one or two fights left, so he may not be around by the time Wilder is ready.
