Deontay Wilder Shows Off New Physique That Has Fans Believing Again: “Future Undisputed”

Deontay Wilder is just days away from making his long-awaited return to the ring.

The former long-reigning WBC world heavyweight champion faces countryman Tyrrell Anthony Herndon in a non-title showdown at the Charles Kock Arena in Wichita on Friday June 27.

Wilder has not fought since he suffered a brutal stoppage defeat to Zhilei ‘Big Bang’ Zhang in the fifth round of their bout in Riyadh last June, making it four defeats in the last five outings for the 39-year-old from Alabama.

‘The Bronze Bomber’s last professional victory actually came against Sweden’s Robert Helenius in October of 2022, stopping ‘The Nordic Nightmare’ in the opening round of their heavyweight clash at the Barclays Center in New York City.

As he prepares to enter what is likely to be the final chapter of his storied career, Wilder has got the boxing world talking after posting a photo of his new physique on Instagram just days before his return, with fans reacting to what appears to be a more muscular frame than his latest outings.

“Reborn. Get the title back champ,” “He’s looking better than ever.” “Future undisputed.” “Best shape I’ve seen him in.”

Should he come through his clash with Herndon unscathed, Wilder could go on to face two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, in a fight that has been speculated for almost a decade.

Another option for the 39-year-old could be a shock match-up with David Allen, who has staked his claim for a showdown with the former WBC champion after picking up a career best victory over Johnny Fisher last month.

Wilder has reiterated his desire to push towards another world title shot on more than one occasion ahead of his return, although it remains to be seen whether the hard-hitting American has what it takes to ascend to the pinnacle of the division once again.
