Deontay Wilder makes his return to the ring next weekend.
The former WBC heavyweight champion will compete for the first time in over a year when he takes on Tyrrell Herndon in Kansas on June 27.
It sees Wilder attempting to get his career back on track after four defeats in his last five fights, the most recent of those coming when he was knocked out by Zhilei Zhang last June.
‘The Bronze Bomber’ will hope that a victory over Herndon could land him a big fight in the near future, and there may be one man in particular that Wilder is targeting.
Speaking to Bloody Elbow, Wilder explained his serious dislike for his countryman and heavyweight rival Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller, who has consistently called out former champion.
“I don’t like him at all. I ain’t gonna say too many things, but this dude has always been a hater of me … He’s always trying to do things or say stupid s**t. That s**t gets old. You’re chasing a man all your life and you’re still in the same position. I’m chasing success, I’m chasing dreams, I’m chasing legacy, I’m chasing iconic moments.
“To answer your question, man, if that time comes and the money is right for that situation, I would love to put him down. Like I told him, he better go get his grave plot paid for by the time I can get him. He better go find it, because I ain’t playing with these folks man. I understand you’ve got to say certain things to try and get a fight, but you got to understand, when they become personal, you can get it at any given time, even when I see you. On sight.”
Miller was last in action in August 2024 when he had a majority decision draw with former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz. ‘Big Baby’ was set to face Fabio Wardley earlier this month, before pulling out of the fight through injury.
