Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder are two of the elder statesmen of the world heavyweight boxing scene – and now Chisora has revealed the honest message that he has sent to the American heavy hitter.

Chisora is a British veteran who has been hugely popular throughout his long career. The fan favourite is always in high action and entertaining fights that live up to his ‘War’ mantra.

In all he has had 48 fights, lost 13 times and shared the ring with the likes of Tyson Fury on three occasions, Dillian Whyte twice, Joseph Parker twice and countless others.

Wilder was once a long-reining WBC world champion on a fearsome knockout streak who stopped the likes of Luis Ortiz, Bermaine Stiverne and Robert Helenius but came unstuck in his trilogy with Fury, drawing the first fight then losing the next two by stoppage,

Since then he has been reluctant to pull the trigger on his biggest punch and has lost to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Chisora lay the blame for that reticence at the hands of his coach Malik Scott.

“What’s happened here is Deontay Wilder is a f**king lion. He’s a lion. People tune in to watch that guy fight. Forget everything that’s happening right now in his life. I would crash home to watch a Deontay Wilder fight, ’cause you know yes he’s going to lose rounds but somebody’s going to get laid out.

“I mean like, he teamed up with Malik Scott, that’s amazing, Malik’s going to show him how to box and knock people out then Malik Scott took a lion and converted him into a cat.”

Chisora then said he has told Wilder this directly.

“I even messaged Deontay Wilder saying you need to get rid of Malik man, Malik is whack. If he’s not hungry enough to train you to be an animal, what’s the point. He was not meant to lose that fight with Parker, he was not meant to lose that fight with Zhang.

“You’ve given this guy a big role and he doesn’t show you anything, you don’t even chuck your right hand anymore. I’m upset with Malik, he’s let us down as a community, he’s taken one of your best athletes and made him into a p*ssy.”

Chisora has long been waiting for a big fight to potentially bow out on and Wilder is a name he has mentioned more than once.
