Derek Chisora seems on the verge of announcing his return to action.

The popular British heavyweight is one of the most enduring stars of the division. He has long since proven that a defeat needn’t be the end of a long career having now had 13 in all.

He has fought 48 times since turning pro and been involved in countless high-profile cards on Sky Sports and DAZN.

As well as three fights with former world champion Tyson Fury, Chisora has twice done battle with Dillian Whyte in a pair of hugely entertaining bouts.

He pushed the former undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk harder than most in his first fight up at heavyweight and has beaten the likes of Gerald Washington and last time out in July the now 40-year-old impressively managed to outpoint Joe Joyce.

He now looks set to take on American Jarrell Miller in January. Miller is most famous for being pulled from the fight with Anthony Joshua after failing several drug tests, and in December last year he was stopped by Daniel Dubois. He has since returned with a draw against Andy Ruiz Jr, though most feel he deserved to have his hand raised.

Miller spoke to Boxing Scene about the potential clash.

“It’s not locked in yet; the deal’s not signed yet. But there are definitely talks. We don’t have the arena locked down yet, but it’s looking like Manchester in January. I love it. I think it’s a great fight. I don’t think it’s an easy one but I think it’s a win. I’ve gotta go in there and beat my boy up.”

He then gave Chisora credit for his recent win.

“I’ve a level of respect for Chisora. I like him, as much as I like Andy [Ruiz], so hopefully I can fight him. I told people, ‘If Chisora’s in shape, and his chin can stand up, I think he can beat Joe Joyce; Joe Joyce is very slow, he’s not very active, and so Derek could get rid of him’. Chisora’s a little past his prime, but sometimes an old dog got tricks, man. He’s an old dog that got tricks.”

‘Big Baby’ then expressed concern at Chisora’s age and the fact he continues to fight but wouldn’t let that get in the way of their fight.

“I worry about him. He got two hands and two feet like me, so I’m worried about Chisora [fighting on]. But I’ma train my a*s off ‘cause if you give a dog a chance, he gonna bite you. The whole point is to go in there, and put a dog down.”
