Derek Chisora Offered Fight Against Big Punching Heavyweight He Once Pleaded to Face

Derek Chisora has not been in a hurry to secure his 50th and final opponent.

Chisora is a long-time British favourite who always lives up to his ‘WAR’ mantra and is engaged in hugely entertaining battles in the ring.

There have been 49 to date and he has won 36 of them, most recently a solid run that has seen him get points wins over Gerald Washington. Otto Wallin and Joe Joyce.

He has lost to the likes of Oleksandr Usyk, Jospeh Parker and Dillian Whyte and has long said he wants to bow out after 50 contests, and one man has now put himself forward.

In a new video on his Instagram, Zhilei Zhang is seen lost in a reverie and dreaming while George Michael’s romantic ‘Careless Whispers’ plays. He’s asked what he’s thinking about as a shot of him and Derek Chisora talking at ringside comes up, the conversation of which was the Brit saying he wants the fight.

Zhang then delivered his famous line:

“I want to fight you. I want to bang you. Maybe, you want to bang me too.”

Whether or not Chisora would fancy a problem as big and tough as Zhang is unclear. The Chinese heavyweight is a dangerous puncher who has stopped 22 of his 31 opponents, including Deontay Wilder in June 2024 and Joyce twice within six months.

He has however, lost to Filip Hrgovic, Parker and Agit Kabayel and is now 42 of years age so, like Chisora, is towards the end of his career. However, it would be a big night that would surely get ‘Del Boy’ up for it and ready to put on his best display before bowing out following a storied career. With a reported return date of December in Manchester, the fan-favourite Brit will likely be announcing soon.
