Derek Chisora Has Made His Mind Up Whether Ben Whittaker Quit Or Not: “No Two Ways About It”

Derek Chisora is certain over whether or not Ben Whittaker quit in his latest fight.

Whittaker took on Liam Cameron on the Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol card in October, but the fight ended in controversy when both men fell over the top rope.

Cameron was happy to continue, but Whittaker stated that he was injured and couldn’t go on, meaning the fight had to go to the scorecards and ended in a technical draw.

It led some fans to question the validity of the injury, due to Cameron beginning to take over in the bout and Whittaker appearing to tire.

Chisora has now had his say on the matter, as he told Seconds Out that he is certain that Whittaker quit in the contest.

“He quit. There are no two ways about it. When he came out of the ring his legs were up in the air, then his legs dropped down. He quit. He has to take the quit-ness for him to be a better fighter.”

Chisora was then asked if Whittaker needs to take the rematch with Cameron, and what he should do differently.

“He has to [take the rematch]. He was getting tapped up. I didn’t like the whole way he built up the fight saying to another man ‘look what you’re wearing, you’re a bum,’ you can’t do that. I didn’t like that. The moment you say that you are an enemy of mine.”

Chisora is expected to return to the ring in January, taking on an opponent that is well known to fight fans.
