Derek Chisora has assessed how his former opponents David Haye and Oleksandr Usyk would fare were they to come together in the boxing ring.

Chisora has had 49 fights in the pro ranks. The man whose mantra is ‘War’ and always brings the violence is hoping to, as IBF top challenger, have one more world title shot to end on 50. He is having something of an Indian summer of late and last time out beat Otto Wallin victim on points. Before that, he scored the same results against Joe Joyce and American Gerald Washington.

However, whenever the Londoner has stepped up to challenge for world honours in the past, he has fallen short, including against Tyson Fury in 2022, as well as Vitali Klitschko in 2012 when he lost on points after 12 rounds.

Back in 2012, he took on bitter rival Haye and was stopped inside five rounds after plenty of controversy in the build-up, including an exchange of press conference punches and Chisora accusing Haye of glassing him.

More recently, Chisora fought Usyk after the Ukrainian moved up to heavyweight, and though he lost, he has since been told he gave the two-weight undisputed champion one of the hardest fights in the division.

Speaking to TNT Sports Boxing, ‘Del Boy’ sided with his fellow Brit when asked who would win between a peak Haye and Usyk at cruiserweight, which is a division both men dominated in their time.

“David Haye.”

It is high praise from Chisora, who mended his relationship with Haye and was even managed by him for a period, considering many feel Usyk’s skillset and achievements place him in the conversation not only as the best of a generation, but one of the best of all time.

Haye and Usyk share one common opponent in Tony Bellew, who beat an injured Haye twice at heavyweight but was knocked out by Usyk at the cruiser limit.

Usyk is now on the verge of becoming a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion should he beat Daniel Dubois when they rematch in July.
